This flag served as the headquarters flag for Robert E. Lee from June 1862 until the summer of 1863. Believed to have been first sewn by Lee's wife, Mary Custis Lee, its design was similar to the First National Flag, or the "Stars and Bars," with the thirteen stars arranged in a Bread of Life pattern. This 3'x5' flag is made of quality 100-D polyester with brass grommets and extra stitching on the fly-end for added durability.
